Ultra-thick Wall Extrusion Tooling
For molds that exceed the conventional wall thickness, if the engineer’s design experience is lacking, the discharge will be unstable. The produced profiles can easily break when they fall to the ground, and sometimes there are various defects such as voids in the middle. FOR PROFILES WITH PARTICULARLY THICK WALL THICKNESS, THE DESIGN OF THE HEAD IS PARTICULARLY CRITICAL. If THE MOLD PARAMETERS ARE UNREASONABLE, THE SCRAP RATE OF THE MOLD IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS WILL BE EXTREMELY HIGH, AND MORE SERIOUS CAN CAUSE THE MOLD TO BE SCRAPPED. 1.The main reason for the uneven discharge of the nose is that the design parameters of the nose are unreasonable. There is a parameter L/T=20-90 in the mold design (see figure below),

where L is the length of the straight section of the nose, which directly determines the pressure of the mold, and T is the gap between the discharge port of the nose. It can be seen from the formula that if the gap between the discharge port of the nose T is greater, the straight section of the nose L will be longer. General engineers design fewer molds with ultra-thick walls and lack of experience. The value of L/T is small, so the mold is caused. Insufficient pressure, the material will show a free state without sufficient pressure constraints, so the discharge is unstable.The solution is to return the mold to the factory and increase the length of the straight section to solve it; there is also the angle of the confluence plate A, in the case of the same extrusion speed, the angle is large, the material is plasticized well, the pressure is large, the angle is small, the material is plasticized poorly, and the pressure is small.;
2.Some customers have reacted that there is not much calcium powder added to the formula. The products produced are broken with pliers or fall to the ground, which feels very brittle. If you can judge that the design of the mold is reasonable, you can solve it through the following 4 methods.:
a.Check whether the screw is worn too severely, the gap becomes larger, and the material flows back from the observation hole, resulting in poor plasticization of the material. It can be improved after replacing the new screw.;
b.The formula design is unreasonable. In order to reduce costs, Chinese stabilizer suppliers have added too many low-melting precipitated substances, such as paraffin wax, which delays the plasticization of the material. If a low-quality stabilizer is used, for every 100 kg of PVC, 3.8-4.5 kg of stabilizer is added, and an additional 0.3 kg of PE wax is added. You need to adjust the formula. The first step is to remove 0.3 kg of PE wax and mix 1 pot of material. It will improve. If it is still not ideal, then reduce the stabilizer by 0.4 kg and it will reach you. Of the requirements.
c.The design of the extrusion process is unreasonable, which can increase the temperature of each zone of the extruder. The increase in temperature can melt the low melting point lubrication, which will promote plasticization.;
d.By adjusting the speed ratio of the extruder to the cutting motor, the plasticizing effect can also be improved. If the rated current of the extruder is 70A, in order to achieve the ideal plasticizing effect, in the production process, by increasing the speed of the feeding motor, the current of the host will increase, and it should reach 70% of the rated current of 70A, which is about 49A. The best.
